She graduated from Syracuse University in 1971 with a BFA in Printmaking and went on to earn her MFA in Painting at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. As an associate professor, Susan Sensemann taught at the University of Illinois-Champaign from 1973 until 1981with a focus on painting and drawing.
